Campaign of the Month: February 2016
Rise of the Durnskald
The Journal of Sorathin (The Green Knight) Session 66
We were finally able to recollect ourselves in the temple of some ancient lizardfolk sun god. I thought for sure the party would like to quit this place and be on our way to the next trial or tribulation that would face us. I believe that we were all of the same mindset that no good could come from this temple, and that we should somehow hide the entrance to the room with the coffin. In fact, we did just that, sealing the entrance with a thin layer of stone before going outside to gaze upon the awesome sunlight which many of us had missed. It all seemed too good to be true. That’s when Luon decided to talk with the mountain again, however you do such a thing. Apparently, according to the mountain, Rak’Noth , Winged Enemy of the Light could potentially be released if we were to continue activity inside the temple. I’m no student of history, but I seem to recall a certain article about villainous creatures and the length of their titles. The writer of the article made sure to note the distinct implication of an adversary with a long title – it meant that the enemy was not one to trifle with. This author surmised that with each additional word in the title, an even greater level of villainy is reached, and your chances of overcoming said adversary decrease. I guess that’s why I’ve never been scared of creatures like A’ki or Sin’Rothos. At first, I thought my knowledge was surely common and the others were versed in it – there’s no chance any would consider returning to the temple to combat such a vile foe. Then it dawned (get it?) on me that we had one party member who would never say no to fighting an enemy that doth detest the light so. With greatsword in hand, the giant I often looked up to (get it?) walked straight back into the temple after Salin reached out to Brother Geoffrey about the ordeal. And here I thought I would be the one to find some other way to get myself killed again.
The fight with the beast rages on even now. Some of our members’ strength is beginning to weaken, and it would appear as though the creature has vacated into the black orb of death it’s been hurling around inside the temple room. Ahz-Radamant, if it were possible to grant me succor in my time of need, I pray within my mind for a miracle.
