Campaign of the Month: February 2016
Rise of the Durnskald
The Journal of Sorathin (The Green Knight) Session 72
We prepared for our journey to the next mountainside, which we’re told is the home to some old Yuan-Ti inhabitants of the swamp. Thoragen had a bright idea for this escapade – he would use this spell everyday that makes our travel easier. The path seemed to open before us as we tread, and closed behind us so that we could not easily be followed. It gave the others peace of mind and allowed us to make great time, which is apparently a concern. After couple days of travel, in our overnight watches, we come across some long swampy alligator thing, which is apparently content to watch us while eating some grass around our campsite. The others claim that the creature is not a concern, but I can’t help but wonder where such a strange beast came from. It watched us while eating the whole night, and we avoided it, treading out of the jungle and down into the swamp itself.
Not long after we begun our descent, someone noticed a small pile of treasure sitting out in the open. Proceeding cautiously, as usually these things are traps, Krellem went forward to begin collecting the treasure. We couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched though. After finally collecting all the treasure, a creature burst forth from the very ground that Krellem was treading on, a creature with a number of heads. It had some special ability to create a nearly invisible wall that I couldn’t run through while it was attacking the others. Moving as fast as I could through the swamp, I eventually reached the creature and severed a couple of the heads with my punches. With a head remaining, it decided to flee the area, and we could not give adequate chase. Perhaps it will return to face us once more, but for now, we had more coin and we would continue on towards the Yuan-Ti temple.
