Campaign of the Month: February 2016
Rise of the Durnskald
The Rain of Seeds
The Rain of Seeds was a strange weather phenomenon that struck continent wide. It started right before Talus was slain and continued for several weeks afterwards, destroying food stores, roads, and fresh water supplies with a constant deluge of seeds that sprouted in a matter of minutes. Transporting supplies from one village to another by foot or wagon became nearly impossible. Entire swamps and wetlands dried up from the massive increase in plant life and rivers quickly became clogged with debris. The seeds that fell into fresh but stagnant water didn’t sprout, instead rotting away and turning the water putrid. This lead to the collapse of several freshwater lake ecosystems and the villages that relied on them.
Ultimately the toll that the Rain of Seeds took is undetermined but is generally considered to be the leading cause of socioeconomic collapse at the beginning of the Age of Attrition, as entire nations crumbled under the weight of starvation and rioting.
