Luon's Journal - Session 97

We got back into the conversation of whether or not to stop the Purgisursian Legion from continuing their trial run. We invited the highest ranking member of my house to the palace to discuss whether or not they would help Krellum call a moot over the matter. I was expecting Victor Skarsgard, as I thought he was the highest ranking member in residence, but instead Atma Libri Catelyn Kant showed up. I apologized for disturbing her and hope I didn’t set myself up for some sort of trouble in the house.

She counseled us that most of the houses would probably consider the matter too trivial to call the moot early and that we should probably wait until the following week to bring the subject up at the normal moot. We hoped that things wouldn’t escalate before then, but the next morning we found out that that was not going to be the case. Sirathen was informed via letter that several members of the Legion were murdered overnight, and the Legion was in the process of calling back a lot of troops to deal with the assassins guild.

After that discovery, we were summoned to the entrance hall, as we had visitors. The visitors turned out to be a halfling – or what appeared to be one – who introduced himself as Cedric Shingledecker and the head of the Ash Waste Mummers. He had two retainers with him. They were polite, but wanted to discuss the “problem” that we all had. Krellem intimated that the problem was his, not ours. Cedric however pointed out that he could make it our problem. Knowing that the entire Ash Waste Mummers were assassins, this carried a lot of weight. After some discussion, we came to an arrangement. He would supply us guards, and in return we would try to convince the Legion to put a halt to their purge of the guild. He openly said that the guild was not responsible for what was happening and that Agrijag was acting of his own accord. We told him that finding those responsible for the deaths of the legion members would go a long way to soothing the Legion. After they left, it was revealed to us that the halfling was actually a lich, and the fact that he was taking over the assassin’s guild was both good, and possibly bad. We gathered that the guards that he would supply were undead of some sort and would not be seen.
