Campaign of the Month: February 2016
Rise of the Durnskald
Luon's Journal - Session 99
After returning from the Garden of Heroes, a thought occurred to me that should have several days earlier. I hate it when I get so wrapped up in something that I forget there are other ways to go about getting what we need. Utilizing the box that Agrijag had used to murder Thoragen, I performed a Discern Location ritual. The ritual told us that he was at Blackfoot’s Pawn Shop, on the 2nd floor. We relayed the information through Void to Cedric, and awaited a response. A little while later, Void indicated that it was safe for us to meet him at the pawn shop. When we got there, there were shadows drifting about and some Purgisursian Legion members were milling about as well, keeping watch. The place was nearly destroyed, and the owner of the shop was nailed to the door – literally. A very gruesome sight, but not nearly as bad as the scene on the second floor. The whole area was awash with blood. Agrijag, or what was left of him, was cut into about 18 pieces and those pieces were stuck to the walls, and even the ceiling, with spikes. They were still moving, and every once and a while there were jolts of blue electricity jumping from one piece to another. Cedric said that he had to have help from the Legion to take Agrijag down. If they took out the spikes, the body parts would move back together and would try to cast spells. It appeared that Agrijag had been possessed by Nimrith, be it voluntary or otherwise, but Cedric couldn’t control the undead Agrijag.
We asked both Sorien and Summer to have a look at the remains, and Selin woke her father to tell him what was going on. The general consensus was that while the possession spell was powerful, there was something else even more powerful that was keeping Nimrith trapped inside Agrijag’s body. We decided as a whole that we should transport the parts individually to the Barrier of Souls and cast them inside, hopefully destroying Nimrith and Agrijag for good. The sooner the better. I’m heading to the Library to see if Atma Libri Catelyn Kant would be willing to teleport us to the Barrier – or as close as she can to it – so we can take care of this immediately. Thoragen and Sirathen went to the forge to purchase strongboxes for us to put the individual parts into. It would be best if the boxes were warded to keep the parts from getting out, but those aren’t going to be available any more tonight – most likely not for several days. Somehow Thoragen managed to get Madame Mothwing invloved, but we told her that her services were not required.
I saw a large burst of fire coming from the area of the forge. I hope that those two were not involved, but history is against me on that…
