Campaign of the Month: February 2016
Rise of the Durnskald
Thoragen Entry Forty-Four
Once we got back to Pergisursia we talked with Virgil, we let him know everything we have discovered and found out that the queen is sleeping. Not sure how much they need to sleep but it must be a lot on Virgil to run the kingdom on his own for extended periods of time. We also found out from Summer that Cara is apparently not alone. This should be interesting as I’m sure everyone will think that the clone from the tower could be the other person with Cara. Guess I’ll have to come clean on this soon. However, now is not the time!
Well I guess I know better than to open random boxes without first checking for traps. Guess it’s a good thing I’m pretty decent at that to bad no one else was around to make that suggestion. While I wasn’t dead for that long thanks to Virgil death still sucks! Also, to have my deaths come so close together I guess I should probably be more careful this is beginning to be VERY closely. Although, I don’t know that this latest death is my fault. Guess I should probably come clean on everything that this could involve that way we know who to start looking at though. I’m sure EVERYONE is going to be really upset at me time to cash in the karma cards.
After explaining to the group, they decided to start tracking down my murderer. Everyone agreed that it would be best to do this without me and pretend that I was indeed still dead. I agreed with this even though I knew it would be very boring but at least I’d have time to continue the projects I’ve been working on.
The group finally got a bit of a break in the case with someone called Agrijag. I’ve never met this guy so I really don’t think the death is really my doing this time around. I really hope everyone realizes this and doesn’t make me pay for the resurrection cost myself like I’ve done before. Guess we’ll find out. Oh right I already know the answer to this question. They made me pay for the resurrection and haven’t paid me back guess I’ll just eat that cost.
I knew it would be a boring few days. Luckily, pretty much everyone needed orders filled. I guess I’ll continue to work on those while waiting for updates from the group on their findings from my murder. The group contacted Madame Mothwing and apparently an attempt was made on Sirathen’s life on the way there. The poison was the same that was used on me. I think this proves even more that it wasn’t just me as the target. The group still somehow blames me for it though. Old Iron Eye also offered to help look into my murder although at this point it isn’t just mine we need to worry about. I think everyone at least agreed with this has everyone decided to stay in the palace for a while.
At least not all was boring while we were waiting for information, we found out that Fang turned an intruder inside out last night for getting to close to the nursery. To make matters worse for this guy, we had to have him revived and killed again so we could get answers from him. Turns out he was after the Salin… Guess he entered at the wrong place. Also I’m REALLY glad that I didn’t have to go through it. Doesn’t seem like a very good thing to do but then again I guess the babies were threatened. Turns out that there is a sizable assassin’s guild in the city, wonder why the city would allow that to exist. We turned over the names that we got from the dead-alive-dead-again guy to House Esgard and the Pergisursian Legion. The Perisursian Legion seemed EXTREMELY happy to get this list. Wonder how many of those assassin guild members will be alive in the next little bit.
The members of House Esgard were looking for the assassin guild members but each time they found one they were found dead. Of course, Sirathen was behind this and apparently funded the assassination of the assassins guild. While there was some debate about Sirathen’s actions a risen-man was thrown at the door. How the risen-man died though was anyone guess, after Krullem revived the risen-man so he was rerisen. We found out the Risen-man is actually from Summer who had been fighting with Sin Rothos over the best way to get Summer back. As if they really stood a chance of just getting her back. I think they will have to go through us to get Summer as she has become a really great friend and I don’t see us just handing her back to anyone.
The risen-man met his unfortunate end again at the hands of a druid that wanted to let us know that Isthmus was no longer part of House Eltrus and was in the city. We of course took this chance to talk to him even though he was an asshole to start out he too has become a really good friend. Although, it was concerning because he was keeping guard at the temple with the big door. I guess we will have to make sure everything is still okay there even though Isthmus says everything is still just fine there.
As the day continued to drag on because of all the people we had to catch up with I finally was able to get back to crafting while the rest of the group continued to follow up with their houses. Considering I’m not part of a house but only the chapter I don’t think I need to report to anyone. At least I hope I don’t have too because I don’t know how much I’d have to follow up on at this point. Again, I’m only part of a chapter which I don’t believe needs reports. They only want the high quality items I produce.
It wasn’t long before I was dragged off to see someone else this time it was the head of the assassin’s guild or Ash Waste Mummers, Chedric Shingledecker. Apparently, he wanted to talk about the “problem” which he said wasn’t his group causing this problem. The problem was one member who was no longer part of the Ash Waste Mummers Agrijag acting on his own. This was the main person behind everything that had happened since we returned from the tower. We agreed to have the Legion stop the hunt in return Cedric gave us a guard to ensure our safety.
It wasn’t long until Cedric’s guys came through with one of the elven brothers the group told me about the other day. While it was not a pretty way to get a person delivered it was one way. The brother’s body was hurled at the palace door. Yes his body not him but his body. We were able to talk to the brother and got a list of people again. We also got locations for check ins and hideouts for Agrijag and his men. With this information we were able to provide a new list to the Legion and Cedric. We also found out that an assassination attempt was going to be made at the moot. With both parties having the list of people we had to warm the houses of the pending assassination attempts…
From the information we gathered we decided to take out one of the threats close to Krellum’s house. It wasn’t very different to take care of the problem thanks to Loun’s abilities. We brought the people with us to make it look as though the posts were abandoned. Not sure that Argijag would care about that type of thing but we’ll find out!
Loun really is a genious! He figured out a way to track down Agrijag using her abilities and tracked him down to a pawn shop. From there we let Cedric do his thing which involved destroying the place but Agrijag or should I say Nemrith was caught. Didn’t think that the two would be one person but sure enough Agrijag had apparently been a host and Cara no longer was. Guess that had to have been Nemrith along for the ride with Cara as well. Agrijag / Nemrith was in pieces but apparently the pieces were trying to get back together and once the hands could jester he tried to destroy everything around him. This didn’t really surprise me but it may have surprised the Legion and Cedric’s men. Since Cedric’s men had this well in hand we split up to get boxes and see if we can get teleported to the barrier. The boxes were on me and Sirathen since I was the best person to get / make strongboxes. Strongboxes we got for sure. I made the mistake of destroying a card that I got from Madame Mothwing which summoned Sal. I didn’t know who Sal was but he said that he could help us with whatever was needed just needed to know what we needed.
Did I mention that with the summoning of Sal there was a huge fireball from the forge. Maybe it was a bad idea to throw the card into the forge. Oh well, in talking to Sal I told him that we needed a way to get somewhere very quickly. I asked if he could provide us with an airship. He of course said he could and asked what features I would like. I described Linden’s airship without thinking that he may actually just take Linden’s ship and provide it to me. Guess that is something else I will have to worry about. Anyone other time we had to go tell Luon the good news. Well I hope she considers it good news. We got strongboxes and left. We grab Luon right before she was going to wake the lady of the library and headed back to get Agri I mean Nemrith and box him up and head toward the barrier.
It took about a week to get to the barrier but it wasn’t a smooth ride. Again everyone tried to say that it was my fault for the weird things happening but I think it was Nemrith. Everything else was Nemrith so why wouldn’t this be Nemrith as well? Anyway we experienced the following: Animated Objects in that kept getting more and more dangerous, Floating candles, and apparently the mirror in Krellem’s room was a portal to the far realm which something came out of it. We through the mirror over the side of the ship and the aberration came out of the mirror. We tried to fight it with the air ship however, it kept throwing everything right back at us damaging the ship pretty bad. I’ll get that fixed later good thing I have a lot of experience fixing ships. After some debate we went to the ground to fight the monster, it wasn’t the easiest battle in the world and left something weird behind as well. I really don’t know how to explain it other than it seemed like an eye.
